Palm Harbor rests along the Gulf of Mexico and is located between the cities of Clearwater and Tarpon Springs. It has a friendly, small town atmosphere, but is just 20 miles west of the city of Tampa. This gives Palm Harbor all the advantages and conveniences of the bigger city, without the crowds or congestion. This charming community has large shopping plazas, as well as unique boutiques and gourmet restaurants. Sailing, fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and swimming are a part of every day life in Palm Harbor. You'll find championship golf courses and tennis courts open year round and more than 300 species of fish are found in the waters surrounding Palm Harbor, making it a premier fishing spot. Plenty of opportunities await residents for hiking, biking and birding in the many local parks and on the famous Pinellas Trail. Living in Palm Harbor gives residents the best of both worlds. The Palm Harbor area is what most people expect of Florida, plenty to do and a great place to live.
On October 24, 2000, the Pinellas County School Board approved the "Choice Plan" as a part of a federal court agreement granting the Pinellas County School District Unitary Status. This agreement called for a choice student assignment plan that would bring an end to forced busing.
